Hippolyte was a famous Amazon queen and the daughter of Ares. Her belt (girdle) was attained by Hercules as part of his Twelve Labors and was later possessed by humans. At the time of No Mercy, it was hidden in an alternate realm and guarded by Aello, Hippolyte's right hand and bodyguard. It held certain powers that could only be wielded by a descendant of Hippolyte. Thorn kidnapped Samia, Hippolyte's granddaughter, to protect her from Lazaros and agreed to release her only if Dev retrieved the girdle for her protection. He gave Dev very cryptic clues to its location:

Luckily, Acheron was easily able to decipher them. Scorpio, Ethon, Fang, Dev, and Samia (in spirit form because she was still stuck in Thorn's realm) set off to retrieve it. They had to face many monsters just to reach Aello and then Samia had to win a contest for the girdle. She was victorious.
