The Arelim (singular: Arel) were protectors of the highest order. They are members of the Kalosum. At one time, they had been nothing more than messengers for the Malachai and Sephirii—celestial gofers for the ancient gods and their servants. But after the first war of the gods that had nearly ended both the Malachai and Sephirii bloodlines, the Arelim had risen to be the Guardians of Order and Truth. They were charged with ensuring that the human world didn’t end and that the Malachai remained forever dormant.

A demon of any species is incapable of assuming the form of an Arel because they are the essence of good.

The Arelim reside in a realm that exists outside of human time and space that is accessible from any dimention. Because of this, the Arelim have the power to move beings through time and across dimensions.

The Nekoda[]

The Arelim's soldiers are the Nekodi, who are chosen from the dead much like Dark-Hunters. They resurrected Belam after she was supposedly killed by the Ambrose Malachai, in order to go back in time and kill the Malachai.

Civil War[]

Civil war breaks out amongst the Arelim in Illusion. Sraosha's faction believe that by killing Nick they can reset Order and bring about the Sada, a time of innocence and purity—a utopian world where all evil was vanquished and only good survived. Suriyel's faction believe that the Sada upsets the necessary balance and would destroy the universe.

Adidiron snorted. "You know that and we know that, but they don’t believe it. Or worse, some of them do, but since they know the world will end by the fledgling Malachai’s hand, they’re willing to cut the deadline short and let it perish under their kinder, gentler destruction now."

The Mashuan was the tablet of fated destiny while the Mashuani was the tablet of prophecy. Twin documents that had been written by the original gods aeons ago when the world was brand new. The Mashuan told what was destined to happen; the other foretold ways to accomplish or divert the Mashuan. It was the tablet of what-could-be.

In the Mashuan, it was written that the last Malachai would bring about the downfall of the Arelim. The Arelim always believed that it meant that there would be a great battle; however it is the schism that forms over the divergent beliefs on what to do with Nick that causes the Arelim to tear themselves apart.

Known Arelim[]

Adidiron[]

Adidiron sides with Suriyel in the civil war.

Ameretat[]

Ameretat sides with Sraosha in the civil war.

Sraosha[]

This Arel acts as Kody's direct contact and superior. He gives Kody leeway in her belief that Nick can be saved until Illusion, when he orders Kody to kill him. After Kody refuses to kill a still innocent Nick, he declares Kody a traitor.

Suriyel[]

Suriyel helps Kody escape from Sraosha. Kody asks Suriyel and Adidiron to return Nick to his proper time and dimension in Illusion, but they say that they would need the Magus Stone to return him.
