Anya's father Markus is Katagaria and her mother Bryani is Arcadian. Bryani sent her three Katagari pups (Anya, Fang, and Vane) to live with Markus and kept her three Arcadian children (Dare, Fury, and Star). When Vane turned Arcadian at puberty, Fang and Anya protected Vane from their cruel father and hid his secret from the pack. They grew up as a very tight-knit unit.
In Bad Moon Rising, Anya was pregnant when her bonded mate Orian was killed in an ambush. In most cases, when one bonded mate dies, so does the other. However, there is an exception for pregnant females, who do not die until after they give birth. Anya was shot with a Taser by a Daimon while in labor, and she died before the pups could be born.
